LIDAR DATA COLLECTION

Trigonometric triangulation is a technique used by laser-based scanners to precisely record a 3D geometry as millions of points. A LiDAR device scans an object by beaming one or more laser lines onto it. It then uses one or more sensors to capture its reflection. The sensors’ location in relation to the laser’s source is known. By estimating the laser light’s reflection angle, precise point measurements can subsequently be made.
